Result of continuous searches for a better, more active, more effective but less toxic Platinum complex as potential chemotherapy drugs terminated in the discovery of the second generation anticancer Platinum drugs, Carboplatin. Cisplatin and its successor drug, Carboplatin, are widely used in the treatment of other cancers. But since these drugs are often given to patients with advanced cancer, even a relatively limited success rate represents a genuine achievement.
